This is (fingers crossed) the last version of the animatic.

Using photoshop, after effects and premiere :) (was doubly compressed to get it to fit onto here)

This was my final animatic, before having a chat with mike..and making a few changes.

Final Storyboard plates

These are the final storyboards that i used as a basis for the animatic.
I later re-drafted up the backgrounds and characters.

 This last board is for extra shots i've since added in.

Post-It Party

Started with some post-its to get an idea of 'flow'.
Was criticised for this, as they weren't filmic enough, and completely unclear.
This was a necessary cruelty, as i needed to understand that the storyboard was for other people to see, and not just me.

Learning and Doing.

Things i did:
Collaborate with simone, generating ideas about the plot etc.
Rewrite the story.
Write the screenplay.
Storyboard, as a first draft.
Discuss character designs with simone.
Final storyboard designs.
Sourcing sound effects.
Animatic.

The thing i've learnt most from this project is that my ideas, as much as i like them, don't adapt that much. I've tried to change my designs, and allow them to evolve, but they really don't change much. I think when i do another project i'll be juggling more diverse ideas about...to try and get something that doesn't stagnate.

Mother Holle - The beginning.

Simone found a link for her favourite Brother's Grimm tale - "Mother Holle"

It has some lovely parts, and we both enjoyed the 'lazy' daughter part, we also thought it would work as a stand-alone plot.

I rewrote the story to fit our take, skewing some of the scenes to fit a more up-to-date tale, and wrote a screenplay based on that, to condense a little:
